Jeter Eyeing May Return

According to ESPN beat writer Wallace Matthews, Yankee Captain Derek Jeter is likely out until May.

Jeter has been rehabbing an ankle injury he suffered during the 2012 American League Championship Series against the Tigers.

According to Matthews' article; Manager Joe Girardi said on Friday that Jeter was likely to need close to a "full spring training reset" once he is cleared to begin playing games again.

Jeter stayed behind in Tampa when the Bombers headed north to start the season.

Currently, Eduardo Nunez is filling in at short for Jeter. Nunez finished the opening series against Boston with a .364 average, collecting 4 hits in 10 at bats. Nunez also swiped a bag, but struck out 3 times in the home opener.

Update 2:24 - Eduardo Nunez was removed from today's game against the Tigers after taking a fastball to the right (throwing) bicep. Jayson Nix replaced Nunez as he was helped off the field by Yankee trainers.
